Two days ago, Il Giornale stated Roberto De Zerbi seems to be very close to becoming the new Brighton & Hove Albion manager.

The Italian has been without a job since leaving Shakhtar Donetsk in July, and the Premier League side have so far not appointed Graham Potter’s successor.

Brighton are currently without a permanent manager since Potter left them for Chelsea a week ago. The option to take De Zerbi continues to be a topic of discussion in the Italian media.

Calciomercato.it explain the 43-year-old could be one of the options for Juventus, in the event they decide to sack Massimiliano Allegri, after a poor start to the season. Brighton looking at him is also highlighted.

The ex-Sassuolo manager has been ‘contacted by Brighton’. There is still no agreement between the two parties, and he is still available for other clubs. Therefore, De Zerbi could be a ‘fascinating option’ for the Old Lady, but ‘not easily achievable’.

Over at Calciomercato, they state De Zerbi’s name has been included in the Seagulls’ wish list and there have been contacts in recent days. It’s explained that initial talks have not yet resulted into an agreement, but ‘evaluations are underway’.

After his time at Shakthar, the coach is ready to start an adventure abroad, which means the possibility of taking the Juve job [if made available] could be ruled out.

Brighton’s next tie is against Liverpool on October 1st. Therefore, their leaders are calm and are planning to make a decision on appointing a new manager next week.
