Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has been key to Jadon Sancho’s potential return from Manchester United this month.
That’s according to Sport BILD, who say the Dortmund manager has been in ‘constant exchange’ with the Manchester United outcast about a return to the German side.
The latest edition of the magazine explains that Terzic, who has found himself under pressure in recent weeks, has earned himself brownie points for the work he’s put in to getting Sancho back.
According to them, Terzic has been in constant contact with Sancho in recent months, with the pair enjoying a strong relationship after the winger ‘experienced his best months’ ‘under him before his eventual move to Manchester United.
He managed 13 goals and 13 assists in 23 games under Terzic in the brief time they worked together, with the crowing glory being the two goals he scored in the 4-1 cup final win over Leipzig.
That relationship led Sancho to let Terzic know towards the end of last year that he really wants to return to Dortmund and work under him again, believing that the manager could drag him back to being a world-class player once again.
That proved to be the ‘bargaining chip’ for Terzic and Dortmund, the latter having believed it would be an impossible deal to pull off for some time.
Those signals from Sancho ‘caused a rethink’ and, director of football Sebastien Kehl, with whom contact also ‘never really broke off’ eventually negotiated a deal with Manchester United.
Now the winger appears to be on his way back, on loan until the end of the season, with all parties hoping for a second half of the season like the one he previously enjoyed under Terzic.
