On Wednesday, RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi informed on his Twitter feed that Saint-Étienne were in talks over the potential transfer of Aston Villa’s Jordan Veretout.
This news, already reliable considering the source, has now been confirmed by none other than the Ligue 1 club’s manager himself during a press conference on Thursday, relayed by Le10 Sport, ahead of the new French league season kicking off on Friday night.
Christophe Galtier, when asked about the former Nantes star, said: “Veretout? I met with him, and he knows where I stand.”
The manager also went on to explain he already had enough centre-backs and right-backs for the 2016-17 seasons, suggesting the next area of interest would be the centre of midfield, where the Aston Villa player plies his trade.
The 23-year-old arrived at the Midlands club last season as part of Tim Sherwood’s French revolution (which didn’t last very long), and made 29 appearances, helping his teammates with five assists in the process.
