Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is on the verge of completing a move to Juventus this summer.
Over the past few months, there’s been multiple reports of the former Empoli man’s firm desire to return to Italy.
On Monday, Sport Witness relayed news of Tottenham reaching an agreement with the Old Lady. The stopper will join them on loan with an option to buy set at €15m.
Later that day, the 29-year-old travelled to Italy to carry out medical tests with the Serie A side.
Manager happy with Tottenham man’s transfer
The Turin club had a friendly against Juventus Next Gen [reserve team] yesterday. After the match, Sky Italia caught up with Juve manager Luciano Spalletti and Calciomercato have relayed his comments.
He said: “Vicario? I’m satisfied; he was one of those we had in our sights. There were some situations that dragged on, which are normal in the process of signing players. I’m happy.”
Guglielmo Vicario has already played under the manager for Italy and reunites with him at Juventus.
Spalletti is unaware of what went wrong for his compatriot towards the end at Tottenham Hotspur.
“I know Guglielmo very well; he’s an experienced goalkeeper who’s already mature, but he’s still young. The last period hasn’t been so positive because we don’t know what happened at Tottenham, but he’s an excellent player,” Spalletti explained.
Details of Tottenham agreement
Tottenham Hotspur are letting him join Juventus on a free loan with a purchase option of €10m. This is €5m less than yesterday’s report. The Old Lady will cover Guglielmo Vicario’s full net salary of €2.5m per year.
The Italian club have to make his signing official and should announce it in the next few hours.
