On Tuesday, the Norwegian media exploded with excitement as it became clear that Ole Gunnar Solskjær returning to Manchester United is a possibility.

The Premier League club parted ways with Ruben Amorim on Monday, and the name immediately pushed as a long term option was Oliver Glasner.

Darren Fletcher was appointed as caretaker manager at Old Trafford, with the plan being to appointing a longer term interim ahead of the summer. Then, the situation could be evaluated again at the end of the season.

As Tuesday went on, Solskjær became a stronger and stronger option. Contact was initiated, the Norwegian was pictured in the area, and everything appeared to be falling into place.

Today’s Norwegian newspapers continue the excitement, with VG having a huge headline shouting ‘Comeback Kid?’.

In a fresh report on Wednesday, it’s stated Solskjær could sign a contract as early as Friday. Manchester United and their club legend are negotiating the terms of a contract right now.

The length of that is unknown at this stage, or whether it will be short or medium term.

VG add: ‘According to VG’s information, work is now underway to sign a contract for Solskjær next Friday.’

On Thursday, Solskjær will be attending the funeral of Åge Hareide. The Norwegian coaching legend passed away in December following a cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.
