For a couple of years now, we’ve been talking about how big Leeds United have become in South America with Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival at the club.

Things got a lot more intense at the weekend, when Olé, the biggest sports newspaper in Argentina, had a front page about the Whites’ promotion to the Premier League.

However, not everyone is a big fan of Marcelo Bielsa, and there are those who still question his competence due to his lack of major titles.

Former manager Gerardo Pelusso, who has a long career in charge of South American clubs, spoke to El Show de La Oral (via Marca) on Monday. And he’s not very happy with all the coverage that Leeds United’s promotion is getting in the local media.

“I don’t know Bielsa, the only thing I see is everything he generates, Leeds have been talked about for days as if they had won the World Cup, that strikes me,” Pelusso, who has five trophies in his 34 years as a manager, said.

“Bielsa hasn’t won a title in 16 years, while Zidane wins championships every six months. Leeds are spoken of as a world champion and they’ve only been promoted.”

So it looks like Bielsa will have another chance to prove himself once he finally makes his debut in the Premier League next season.
