Just days after Jose Mourinho was announced as Manchester United manager in May 2016, Marcus Rashford signed a new four-year deal at Old Trafford.

His contract runs out in 2020, but the Red Devils have an option to extend the forward’s deal by a further year.

For over a month, there have been sporadic reports in the Catalan media that Rashford is a potential target for Barcelona.

On April 11th, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who explained Manchester United don’t want the 21-year-old to ‘fall into any temptation’, which is why they are planning to offer him a new deal.

Mundo journalist Miguel Rico, writing in today’s edition of the newspaper, claims the attacker ‘does not accept’ the proposal from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to renew his contract.

Rashford’s situation at United now makes him a ‘cheaper’ option for the La Liga winners, who are looking at strengthen the attack and are looking at those players who can play anywhere up front.

The player is considered ‘cheaper’ by Rico because his contract expires at the end of next season, but he doesn’t take into account the Premier League side have an option to extend his contract until 2021.

Not a lot to see here, then.
