It’s now time for the French media to have a say on Manchester United’s pursuit of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.
Foot Mercato today features a story claiming the Red Devils are indeed going for the signing and already met his representatives a few weeks ago.
In this meeting, Manchester United discussed the conditions for a contract and ‘submitted a colossal offer’ salary-wise.
According to Foot Mercato, the wages Kim would make at Old Trafford would be those of a ‘star striker’.
A personal deal is the most crucial factor to get this signing done, since the defender has a release clause with Napoli which dismisses any negotiations between clubs. The Italian media had already said today that the fee isn’t a problem for the Premier League club.
Even though Kim is said to be happy at Napoli and eager to play the Champions League for them, Foot Mercato says he’s interested in the switch to the Premier League.
And the playing time wouldn’t be a problem at Manchester United, who plan to get rid of Harry Maguire and often see Raphel Varane or Lisandro Martinez having fitness issues.
Santi Aouna, who also writes for Foot Mercato, adds on Twitter that the Red Devils are set to ‘insist in the next weeks’ for the signing, even though Napoli wish to renew his contract.
