Edinson Cavani continues to be one of the most commented on names in the Brazilian rumour mill, as Corinthians seem to be really focused on signing him in January.
Recent reports have been claiming that the Manchester United striker has asked the Timão to wait until January, as he’ll only sort his future out at that time.
Some in the Brazilian media believe he’s waiting for the transfer window to open so he can see the offers on the table, as Barcelona are also said to be interested to take him to the Camp Nou and replace Sergio Aguero.
However, in an update from journalist Samir Carvalho, it’s said the 34-year-old is actually thinking about something else, which is a potential contract renewal with the Red Devils.
On his Youtube channel, the reporter explains that Cavani himself told Corinthians during the negotiations that he’s only making a decision next month. And it turns out he’s waiting for Manchester United, who are currently sorting their budget out for next season.
The Old Trafford side are expected to tell him whether they’d like to renew his contract, which expires next summer, or let him go, as they already told him he’s an expensive player for the squad.
So even though other clubs are also interested in signing him, Cavani’s version is that he’s actually waiting for his own side to take a decision on his future. Meanwhile, Corinthians are said to be offering the striker a two-year contract worth €3m a year.
