Having arrived at Gent in 2018, Jonathan David has impressed for the Belgian club in the last two seasons, managing 37 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

The 20-year-old’s performances for the Jupiler Pro League side haven’t gone unnoticed as Manchester United are one of the clubs looking at him.

Het Laatste Nieuws has an update and their headline states the Red Devils are ‘sniffing around Jonathan David’.

Within the report, it’s claimed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been following the Canada international for months.

In addition to this, the Old Trafford club have taken further steps by holding initial talks with his representative, Nick Mavromaras. They contacted David’s agent to find out about the conditions needed to sign the attacking midfielder.

Apart from United, Ajax, Everton, Inter Milan and FC Porto have the player on their radar.

Gent manager Michel Louwagie has no plans to cut ties with David so easily and has already stressed an offer of €25m would not enough to take him away from the Belgium club.

HLN’s report doesn’t mention the fee needed to convince Gent to sanction David’s sale this summer, while they also make it clear the club have not received any offers for the Canadian.
