Manchester United are said to still be keeping tabs on the Grêmio youngster Lincoln. This time, with a bit more competition.
Italian website Calcio Mercato has an article today saying Juventus are following the attacker, but things are still far from an offer. The Serie A club’s intention would be only to watch him for now.
Then they claim that Manchester United are also interested, without actually giving much details about this chase. Under Jose Mourinho the club have continued to increase their scouting of young players, and so it’s no surprise they’re reviving old interest.
Manchester United have already been linked to the player in the past. Earlier this year, one of Grêmio’s coaches claimed that he heard many things coming from abroad, especially when Lincoln was out with the national team, but things never got to the club.
As we reported a few days ago, Manchester United scouts are in the city of Porto Alegre to watch a U-20 tournament. The problem is that despite being 18, Lincoln is part of the first team, who are just champions of Copa do Brasil.
The youngster spends most of the time on the bench. Although he had 28 appearances this season, only ten of them were for the starting team.
We’re not sure if Calcio Mercato knew that United are watching the player or if they took claims from the past. The club have teams of scouts in all over the world so it wouldn’t really be a surprise if they keep following him.
