As most of you will know, Antonio Rüdiger’s contract at Chelsea runs out in the summer.

It’s been one of the most talked about free agent stories of the season, since the Germany international is among the best in his position in the Premier League, and Manchester United know this.

Chelsea’s current situation means the club cannot offer him a new contract, even if he was reportedly interested in extending at Stamford Bridge, but that could all change if the Blues are sold away from Roman Abramovich.

That could still take a while, though, allowing clubs to approach Rüdiger in the meantime with their own offers to try and lure him away from London.

Manchester United are one of those, being pushed by the German and French media as a challenger to the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain for the centre-back.

French journalist Ignazio Genuardi brought an update over the weekend, explaining that Rüdiger ‘has not taken a definitive decision on his future’, and is ‘notably the subject of pressure from Manchester United’, keen to bring him to Old Trafford for next season.

Whether the Chelsea defender would want to move to another Premier League side remains to be seen, but ‘the Red Devils have not had their final say’ in the matter.
