Following all the links between Manchester United and Cody Gakpo in the past few months, it’s obvious that his goal on his World Cup debut would reawaken the rumours about a transfer out of PSV.
Following the Netherlands’ win over Senegal in the first game of Group A, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato featured a story explaining how the Dutch winger has been in superb form for both club and country.
The outlet then recalls that the ‘eyes of the main Premier League clubs have rested on him for some time’. And Manchester United are said to be placed ‘above all’ in this race.
It’s recalled that the Red Devils have ‘taken more information than others’, getting to know that Gakpo won’t be sold for less than €45-50m in the January transfer window.
Calcio Mercato claims Gakpo’s goal in his World Cup debut was an extra ‘business card’ for the clubs who’ve been interested in him, as his performances in Qatar will have a big impact on the race for his signing.
Besides Manchester United, the likes of Liverpool and AC Milan are said to be attentive to the 23-year-old as well.
