One of the more infuriating transfers sagas of the 2019 summer was Manchester United’s alleged interest in Sergej Milinković-Savić.

The reason for that was his supposed move to Old Trafford would only take place if Paul Pogba was sold to Real Madrid, and since that was never going to happen, it all felt a bit pointless.

Still, it had to be done just in case Florentino Pérez somehow convinced Ed Woodward to let his prized asset go, but despite many claims of an agreement being reached, it never really felt like it was going to happen.

It all went a bit quiet after that, but with stories of Pogba potentially leaving at the end of the season reemerging, it makes perfect sense for the Milinković-Savić links to rear their ugly head again, and they have.

Tuttosport are the culprits, explaining the player is now worth €70m (which is quite the fall from the €100m Claudio Lotito was asking for as a minimum a few months ago), and clubs like Manchester United, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid are ‘suitors’ of his.

However, with Lazio currently third in Serie A just one point behind Juventus and Inter, and the Serbian in good form (four goals and seven assists in 28 appearances), that price could rise come the end of the campaign once more.

It’s certainly no surprise to see Manchester United keeping tabs on a player who could certainly help alleviate the problems caused by a Pogba departure, and if Woodward gets the £100m he wants for the Frenchman, he’ll have the money for Milinković-Savić.
