Manchester United and Newcastle United continue to big candidates for the signing of Porto star Luis Diaz, according to reports from Portugal.
Today we see newspaper Record featuring a big story on the player’s future, mostly focusing on the interest from Liverpool, who seem to be coming up with an offer to sign the 24-year-old.
The outlet, however, makes it clear that the Reds aren’t alone in the race, claiming ‘the truth is’ that Red Devils and Magpies are ‘paying attention’ to the player as well.
Record claims that Diaz’s future ‘will be in the Premier League’, claiming there are ‘concrete possibilities’ he could leave the Dragons in the January transfer window.
Now there’s one condition for that transfer to happen in January, and that would be a ‘record cash flow’ for Porto.
From all the players who joined and left Dragons so far, the most significant amount made by the club was with Eder Militão, who left them to Real Madrid in 2019 on a €50m deal, leaving the club with a profit of €28m.
Porto spent €7.22m to sign Diaz from Junior Barranquilla in 2019, and own 80% of the player’s rights. He has a release clause worth €80m, and president Pinto da Costa has been saying that only offers they can’t refuse would take away their stars in the middle of the season.
The Colombian has 14 goals and five assists for the club this season, and despite the strong interest from the Reds, it’s interesting to see Record pointing out that Manchester United and Newcastle should have a shot to land him in January as well.
