On Tuesday afternoon, a spate of articles emerged in the Spanish and French media claiming Philippe Coutinho was being offered around the Premier League.

Very conflicting reports appeared about Arsenal, while Tottenham have also been touted as an option.

Then, Sport decided it was time to also include a fan favourite. Yes, you’ve guessed it: Manchester United.

The idea appears to be that if the Premier League club fail in their attempts to acquire Christian Eriksen from Tottenham, then Ed Woodward and co. would pursue the idea of signing the former Liverpool player from Barcelona.

It’s been reported a couple of times over the past few days the Red Devils have been in talks with Spurs for the Denmark international, but nothing has suggested those negotiations are leading anywhere.

Regardless, Manchester United ‘have made their interest’ in Coutinho known, but that’s as far as it goes.

It’s stated the Brazilian’s agents are ‘calm’ that another ‘important offer from a European league’ will come along once the Premier League transfer window closes, suggesting they aren’t really holding their breath about it in the first place.
