Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a story from the Italian media claiming that Franco Baldini, who acts as an advisor to AS Roma owner James Pallotta, was involved in the deal that could see Chris Smalling stay in Italy.
This meant the former Tottenham technical director was talking to Manchester United, yet the English defender isn’t the only topic of conversation.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Baldini is also having chats to a number of Premier League clubs about Cengiz Ünder, whom the Red Devils ‘like’.
It’s explained United have sent scouts to watch the Turkey international in the past, and with Roma looking to cash in this summer, this could be their chance to pounce.
His output is certainly a bit lower than both of the names above, and yet he would represent the cheapest option of the lot.
Previous reports have suggested Roma would only be looking for around €30m, which would allow them to make a tidy profit, and is a fee Manchester United could easily afford.
It’s worth keeping in mind, especially in the post-Covid-19 market many clubs will be wading through, and while we don’t doubt Sancho remains top of the list on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s list, you don’t always get what you want.
