Earlier on Monday, we covered a report from Germany stating that Bayer Leverkusen had signed Brazilian right-back Arthur.

This, in turn, led to a comment from Patrick Berger, the journalist reporting the news, suggesting that Jeremy Frimpong, a target for Manchester United, could leave.

Well, it appears the Dutchman’s agent hasn’t wasted time, as Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg revealed on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

He explains that talks between Jeffrey Lemmert and Manchester United ‘have started’, and the first round of chats were ‘very positive’.

It’s mentioned that Erik ten Hag ‘admires the player’, who is himself ‘open to leave’ Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

He is currently contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2025, meaning they are in no rush to get a deal done, but are also probably aware that next summer could be the ideal time to fully capitalise on a potential sale, two years from the end of his contract and with a club such as Manchester United interested.

Frimpong has managed to score eight goals and assist another nine this season for the German club, doing so in 36 appearances in all competitions.

Patrick Berger also backed up the claims of talks between Manchester United and Frimpong’s agent a few minutes later.
