As we all know, there is a dire need for an extra centre-back at Everton these, with Carlo Ancelotti having just three to pick from for the second half of the season.

Of course, the Italian could simply pluck someone from the youth teams to make up the numbers, but if goals want to be met and progress is to be made, someone with first-team football under his belt will be needed.

That’s where Marash Kumbulla comes in, currently contracted to Verona in Italy where he is enjoying a great first season in the team, and, in doing so, has attracted interest from a number of big clubs, like Everton and Manchester United.

The last time we covered the Albania international, it was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in focus, who were ‘ready to take action’ for the 20-year-old.

It was reported Verona were hoping to get an auction going to get a sale at around €25-30m, yet we mustn’t forget Everton were linked a number of times in January, and it’s happened again.

Corriere dello Sport on Monday, as part of Inter’s interest in Kumbulla, mention the competition for the defender, revealing that alongside the Toffees and the Red Devils are Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

However, Inter have already held talks with the youngster’s entourage, and things clicked between the two parties.

That being said, Corriere point out getting Kumbulla wouldn’t be a ‘simple operation’, suggesting Verona would be highly reluctant to let their starlet go.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but we all know money talks, especially for a club like Verona, so it could come down to who can put the most money on the table.

Normally, that means advantage Premier League clubs.
