Marca have an article on Saul today, and if we’re honest it feels a bit forced.
They again make clear that claims of Manchester City interest have been nonsense, something which is now widely accepted in Spain.
For Manchester United they say the club would be ‘considering’ negotiations, but the claims don’t come over as being strong.
Atletico Madrid haven’t yet received any offer, which doesn’t seem strange given it’s still April, and it’s made clear Manchester United would not consider paying the midfielder’s €150m release clause.
Marca say the Premier League club have a ‘powerful link’ with the player’s Stellar Group agency. They don’t explain why, but it’s likely because the group, run by Jonathan Barnett, represents Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard, Marcos Rojo and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
Despite all of that, Marca then dismiss their own claims are ‘just theories’ because there’s no offer on the table for Saul.
Reading between the lines of all the stories in recent weeks, this one looks like it may have started with a Barcelona source saying the Blaugrana aren’t interested and then throwing the English clubs in.
