Victor Lindelof may not be the only Benfica player who Manchester United are interested in. According to Diário de Notícias today, the English club will send scouts to watch another talent tonight.

Nelson Semedo is the one who the emissaries will keep their eyes on as Benfica face Napoli in the Champions League group stage. José Mourinho would want the player to be Antonio Valencia’s successor.

CapturarThey say that no contacts have been initiated yet, but it’s insisted that the interest is real and Manchester United would want the signing for next season.

Tonight’s game is considered to be ‘a final’ for the Portuguese club, and the scouts would like to see how the player reacts under these circumstances.

Nelson Semedo had a €60m release clause until a month ago, and despite some reports from Portugal saying it was raised to €80m, there’s still no official confirmation from the club. But even if the contract hasn’t been signed yet, it’s still likely Benfica would try to make that the case before the summer.

The higher the clause, the higher the actual price Benfica will believe they can get. With a price tag of €80m, Benfica will be hopeful of dragging a bit more out of Manchester United, or anyone else for that matter, although they surely wouldn’t expect someone to match the full clause.
