It’s been widely reported in England that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to bring in a new central defender in the summer.

A handful of names have been linked with a move, with regular claims in Italy stating Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenković is a target for the Old Trafford club.

Manchester City are also credited with an interest in the defender who has a contract expiring in 2022.

Local newspaper La Nazione explains the 23-year-old is in the sights of English clubs and there’s a ‘very good chance’ of a transfer in the next window.

Both Manchester side are said interested in the centre-back and therefore, an auction ‘seem inevitable’, with ‘Manchester United ahead of City’ in the race for the Serbia international.

Despite the time left on his current deal, it’s claimed the fee Fiorentina plan to ‘exceed the normal price’ due to the centre-back’s ‘talent’.

The newspaper states the fee could exceed €35m.

Manchester United are ahead in the Milenković transfer chase and La Nazione takes it for granted the player is heading towards the Premier League after this season.

Claimed interest from City could be to pressure their neighbours, given Pep Guardiola doesn’t need a central defender.
