Bayern Munich invested €60m to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace in the summer window.
The 22-year-old won the silver medal with France at the Olympics, managing two goals and five assists from five games. He’s made three appearances for Bayern and managed an assist in the process.
Thursday’s edition of Bild has analysed Bayern’s summer transfer business, including the winger’s arrival from Crystal Palace. They don’t seem to be pleased with Olise’s interaction with the press, especially when Bayern presented him to the local media.
The newspaper points out the press conference lasted for three minutes, and he mostly responded with a few words, even for complex questions.
Bild say he’s a ‘man of exceptionally few words’, and add that this shouldn’t be surprising, considering Olise didn’t speak a lot even at Crystal Palace.
Olise received a call up for the France senior team for this month’s international break. Le Figaro claim he could be in contention to make his debut against Italy.
The former Crystal Palace star was born in London to a Nigerian father and a Franco-Algerian mother. He had the opportunity to represent England but decided to play for France. On Thursday, he spoke to the reporters, explaining his decision to pick France.
Le Figaro also point out the ex-Eagles man’s answers were ‘short’. They believe he lacks confidence to speak in French, and this shouldn’t be a surprise. Olise spent the majority of his life in the UK and French is his second language, so he’s doing well to converse in it with the media at all.
The youngster has gone through a lot of changes in recent months, being guarded with the media seems a sensible move.
