On Thursday morning, multiple reports coming out of Belgium stated Anderlecht were close to signing Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha.
Later that day, the Jupiler Pro League confirmed the Citizens forward has joined them on a season-long loan deal.
Het Belang van Limburg now explain the 21-year-old signed for Vincent Kompany on a temporary deal without any option to make the transfer permanent.
The Germany U21 international came through the ranks of City’s youth system, but has only a handful of appearances for their first team.
His contract at the Etihad runs out next summer, and the newspaper states the fact that City have allowed him go out on loan proves their faith in Nmecha ‘has diminished’. That’s because of his failure to impress in his past loan spells.
In the last two years, the attacker has been on loan at Preston North End, VfL Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough. During this period, he scored only four goals and all of them were with Preston.
Nmecha would now be hoping he can prove City wrong during his time at Anderlecht, but even that may not be sufficient for him to have a future at the Etihad.
