If there’s one thing El Chiringuito are really good at, it’s making their exclusives so dramatic that you’re drawn in from the first second even if you know what they’re saying probably isn’t accurate.

Tuesday morning was no different when Juanfe Sanz, one of their journalists, revealed to the world that Manchester City are prepared to spend €150m on a player.

That man is Atlético Madrid’s Saul Niguez, who is currently contracted to the La Liga side until 2026, having signed a nine-year renewal last July, all but sending a message he was set to stay at Diego Simeone’s current club for life.

However, Sanz believes Pep Guardiola is ready to test that long-term commitment by triggering the release clause in the deal, which is set at the aforementioned €150m.

The journalist then went on to explain there had been contact with people within the midfielder’s entourage to find out what the terms required would be for him to accept, or at least value, a move to the Etihad.

This took a whole minute and 26 seconds, with the great reveal coming after 53 seconds, during which Sanz repeated himself at least four times for dramatic effect before revealing Manchester City as ‘the club willing to trigger the €150m clause in Saul Niguez’s contract’.

Like most El Chiringuito claims, we’d suggest taking this with a pinch of salt, but, then again, the Premier League club could very well trigger the clause.

That doesn’t mean Saul will want to leave Atlético Madrid, and there’s been no indication he wants to either.
