Ismaël Bennacer left Empoli for AC Milan in 2019 and was a regular in his debut season with the Rossoneri.
The midfielder’s performances caught the attention of Manchester United, who were reportedly ‘waiting for a green light’ to make an approach for him in the summer.
United’s local rivals Manchester City have now set their sights on the 22-year-old, if claims are to be believed.
Calciomercato has a short report on the Algeria international and their titles states ‘two clubs monitor Bennacer’.
Within the report, it’s stated the Citizens and Paris Saint-Germain are ‘interested’ in the player, who has shown ‘exponential growth’ with the Serie A club this season. The midfielder has made 11 appearances in all competitions for Stefano Pioli’s side.
Earlier reports explained Bennacer has a €50m release clause valid only for clubs outside Italy and it will come into effect in 2021.
Calciomercato only claim Manchester City and PSG are ‘interested’ in the Milan midfielder, but there isn’t anything to suggest if either or both clubs are ready to pay his €50m clause to acquire Bennacer’s services.
