On December 15th, we covered claims made by SportBild that Manchester United are the ‘only serious bidder’ for the transfer of Erling Haaland.

This report came just days after Mino Raiola admitted the Borussia Dormtund star ‘can go to’ Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

At the weekend, BVB chief Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed Los Blancos are interested in the striker.

The Norway international is on the front page of today’s AS, while the report’s main focus is on the La Liga giants and his future with the Bundesliga side.

It’s claimed Marco Rose’s side want to set a meeting with the 21-year-old to ‘define his future’. Dortmund want to know whether their prized asset wants to leave next summer or continue at the club until 2023.

BVB want the former Red Bull Salzburg star to stay for 18 more months and to achieve this, they are willing to offer him a net annual salary of €14m. They are ready to insert a clause that will allow the player leave for a fixed amount in 2023.

This situation would be ‘perfect’ for Real Madrid as their priority is to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé next summer. Despite all this, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be keen to sign the frontman, if he decides to leave the German club after this season.

The two sides share a good relationship and this could be key during negotiations. However, they must convince Raiola and this is where Real Madrid chief José Ángel Sánchez will be ‘fundamental’. AS explain the super-agent has ‘a lot to say’ on Haaland’s next destination.

The newspaper add the attacker will give preference to a sporting project over money, making a move to PSG less appealing.

City and United are tagged in the end as the report explains Pep Guardiola’s side and the Red Devils ‘will be Madrid’s great rivals’ to sign Haaland, if he decides to leave BVB next summer.

Raiola left out United when discussing Haaland’s possible options. That has not stopped AS or others mentioning the Old Trafford club in the same line as City.
