It’s interesting how even words from the player himself can sometimes not be enough to dismiss transfer rumours.
Originally a target for Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Palmeiras’ Gabriel Jesus is now the talk of the town in both Spain and Italy.
The 19-year-old has caught the atttention of many clubs around Europe, and has today been mentioned in Mundo Deportivo, AS and Gazzetta dello Sport as a target for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and even Bayern Munich.
Mentions of a move to England have dwindled quite considerably in recent times, but it seems Gazzetta dello Sport felt the need to rekindle them on Thursday by mentioning Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s new club have been very keen on young talent in recent years, and the young Brazilian forward would certainly be an interesting addition to their squad.
However, the player recently told Sportv, relayed by Lance, in Brazil he was planning on staying at his current club beyond this summer, and that he was completely focused on his development for the time being.
He said: “Regarding Europe, it’s already defined. My will is to stay at Palmeiras, I really trust my work, the manager Cuca’s work and in the team, which is very good. I don’t think of Europe, because it can destabilise me a bit. Today my total focus is on Palmeiras. We’re fighting for the title and I’m very happy here”
The player recently admitted a preference for Inter Milan, where Brazilians have thrived in the past, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the player did eventually move soon, but sometime in 2017.
Then again, the right offer might not have arrived yet for a 2016 transfer.
