Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have released their European Team of the Week for last weekend’s games, and Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has been named in the selection.
Each week Gazzetta pick the best eleven players from outside Serie A, and the England international has been selected after his display against West Ham United on Sunday.
Sterling has made an impressive start to the season, and he was one of the standout Manchester City players during their 3-1 victory over West Ham. Sterling has been rejuvenated since the arrival of Pep Guardiola this summer, and his two goals at the weekend put the gloss on an outstanding display.
With three assists so far in this campaign, he’s had a hand in five goals in four games, and it seems on this form the youngster has finally got his act together after an inconsistent first season in Manchester.
The player has in the past been criticised for his final ball, and goal conversion, which so far in this campaign he’s put right.
Other notable players that made the selection were Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski, Chelsea star Eden Hazard and Leicester City captain Wes Morgan
