Chelsea took steps to sign Sevilla star Jules Koundé towards the end of last summer transfer window.

The defender was keen on joining the west London club, but their approach was late and the proposal didn’t meet the demands made by the La Liga side.

He ended up staying at the Andalusian club for this season and continues to get linked to the Premier League side.

Four days ago, Super Deporte reported the Blues are preparing to launch another attempt for the centre-back after this season.

Later that day, we covered claims made by Marca that the FIFA Club World Cup winners are ‘convinced’ they ‘will not fail’ to sign the France international in the next window.

The 23-year-old is playing the ‘last leg of his career at Sevilla’ and will leave them as their record sale in the summer. That’s according to Fichajes.net, who say the former Bordeaux man wants to join a top club that fights for the Champions League.

Chelsea, the reigning European champions, ‘aspire’ to win everything and they therefore fit the player’s requirements.

It’s claimed Thomas Tuchel’s side ‘love him’ and after having ‘already made an offer’ for Koundé in 2021, the Blues ‘will do it again in a few months’. In other words, the Premier League side will make another proposal in the next window.

Chelsea have clearly not forgotten Julen Lopetegui’s man as they have plans to return for Koundé in the summer window.
