‘Makes little sense’ for player to join West Ham – Hammers dismissed as relegation fodder

On Wednesday, SportBild reported West Ham United want to sign Werder Bremen’s Niclas Füllkrug in the summer.

The striker has managed 15 goals and five assists from 25 matches in all competitions this season.

Although West Ham can pay a significant fee to Werder Bremen, Füllkrug has insisted his focus is on the sporting perspective. The Hammers are in 17th place, level on points with 18th placed AFC Bournemouth.

A move to West Ham, who are close to the relegation zone, ‘makes little sense’ for the player. Therefore, the option to join the Premier League side isn’t an issue for him.

The Germany international played alongside top quality players with the national team. He can certainly imagine doing that at a top club, but the German slant is that won’t be at a team like West Ham, who are in the fight to avoid relegation.
