On Monday, L’Equipe reported Lyon have made an offer to Newcastle United to sign Yankuba Minteh. It was also said he’s in contact with the French club.
Foot Mercato backs up Lyon making an offer and adds that Newcastle are willing to sell the 19-year-old for a ‘nice sum’.
It’s claimed Lyon have also made a personal terms offer to the Newcastle winger, but the details aren’t mentioned.
The Ligue 1 side entered the race to sign him mainly because of their owner, John Textor.
Everton are also keen on signing Minteh, and the report says Textor came across his profile when he tried to buy the Merseyside club.
Lyon have made offers to both Eddie Howe’s side and the Gambia international, but the report says ‘nothing is done’ so far.
Marseille have also included the Newcastle attacker in their target list, and may win the battle.
If Minteh were to make a switch to France, Foot Mercato state the player has ‘made his choice’ and his ‘heart swings’ for Marseille over Lyon.
He feels their sporting project will help him in his development, to make a jump to an even bigger club in the future. This is one reason and the other is to play under Roberto De Zerbi, who was appointed as the new Marseille manager on Monday.
