Celtic have picked up only one point from five Champions League games this season and that came against Atlético Madrid at Celtic Park.

Brendan Rodgers’ side won’t progress to the knockout stage, after suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Lazio. The result on Tuesday also meant Celtic will finish bottom of the table and will miss out on the Europa League.

A brace from Ciro Immobile in the final quarter helped Lazio seal a victory over Rodgers’ side and today’s Gazzetta dello Sport is critical of a few Celtic players.

Celtic’s James Forrest received a rating of 4.5/10 and when describing his performance, the newspaper labelled him as a ‘magician’. That’s because Gazzetta say the winger was able to ‘make himself disappear’ against Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Liam Scales received the same rating as Forrest, and Gazzetta say the Celtic centre-back’s ‘limitations’ were highlighted yesterday.

Even though it’s insisted Lazio were predictable in attack, the Italian newspaper says Scales couldn’t cope with even that, something they present as being very telling.

Midfield duo Callum McGregor and Paulo Bernardo received 6.5/10, which were highest ratings given to Celtic players.

On December 13th, the Scottish club will host Feyenoord at Celtic Park.
