Nathan Ngoy’s move to Luton Town appears to be off as Hatters boss Rob Edwards has decided against the transfer.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that the player has been told to go back to Belgium after travelling to finalise his move.
Reports over the last week or so have had Ngoy closing in on a move to Luton, with a deal agreed and everything seemingly sorted. In fact, it was confidently stated that he could consider himself a Luton player.
Tavolieri now reports there’s been an ‘unexpected turn of events’ on the deal, providing information on ‘crazy’ goings on behind the scenes.
According to him, there was an internal clash at Luton regarding the philosophy of their recruitment. That led to manager Rob Edwards eventually deciding he didn’t need the Standard Liege defender anymore.
It seems he has decided that Luton’s money should be spent elsewhere and cancelled a deal for the centre-back, considering the position well covered as is. He wants to focus on other priorities.
As a result, the deal is off, and the player has been told to head back to Belgium to link up with Standard Liege again.
