Last week, we covered Youri Tielemans’ revelation that a future transfer probably wouldn’t be to one of the biggest clubs around Europe, but that he would take the next logical step, with a team like Everton the most likely scenario.

The young midfielder’s rise in football has been one of the most scrutinised by fans, mostly due to games such as Football Manager and FIFA, but also because of his undeniable talent on the ball.

Also an Anderlecht youth product, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku used some of his time off to visit his old club and watch their game at the weekend, where he witnessed his former teammate Tielemans score two absolutely wonderful goals in five minutes, both from around 30 yards, and each one with a different foot.

Speaking to Voo Foot, relayed by DH, after the game, Lukaku explained he’d given his good friend a few tips on Friday ahead of the game.

He said: “I told him he needed to continue like that and score lots of goals. If he manages it, he’ll have a magnificent future. He’s growing on the pitch, and he’s decisive. It’s exactly what he needs to do.

“I think he’s ready to go up a level in his career. He already had his passing and his leadership, now he has goals. We’d already talked about it on international duty, and he’s carried on since. I’m really happy for him.”

Everton fans will surely be hoping their star striker is doing his job properly and convincing Tielemans theirs is the right club for him to further his career, with Ronald Koeman known to favour youth.

He’d be expensive, but he’d be worth every penny.
