Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has been a key player for Napoli since his move from Fulham in 2021. Sunderland tried to sign the midfielder at the end of the window but couldn’t get a deal over the line.

TuttoSport, relayed by CalcioNapoli24, report that the Cameroon international received multiple offers in the summer.

Sunderland made a ‘lucrative’ approach. AS Monaco and clubs in Saudi Arabia had also come forward for him.

Zambo Anguissa has ambitions of winning further silverware. As a result, he rejected these offers and work is ongoing to renew his contract at Napoli.

The 29-year-old’s contract in Naples runs until 2027. The newspaper reports talks are in the final stages for a renewal.

The Cameroonian is set to receive a salary increase, reflecting his importance.

Zambo Anguissa contributed to 11 goals last season, helping Napoli to the Serie A title. When they won the title in the 2022/23 campaign, he contributed to eight goals.

Sunderland interest is justified, but the player clearly isn’t keen.
