It’s been over a week since Tottenham Hotspur sacked Antonio Conte and appointed Cristian Stellini as interim manager.
For the past few days, Spurs have been linked with several managers and the list includes Manuel Pellegrini.
Estadio Deportivo look at these claims and give their take on the possibility of Tottenham or any other club taking the Chilean away from Real Betis.
The former Manchester City boss, who joined the La Liga side in 2020, has a contract until 2025. He’s happy at the club and ED have been informed by the reliable sources that Betis would try to extend his deal beyond 2025, if they continue on the current path.
Pellegrini’s leadership, ability to get the best out of his players, and affection from the fans practically guarantees his stay at Betis until he wants otherwise. The South American has also made it clear he has no intention to leave before his current deal expires.
Therefore, the manager is set to continue at the Spanish club amid claims of insistence from Tottenham and other clubs.
Pellegrini’s camp have also told ED that he will continue at Betis at least until 2025 and won’t be tempted to join another club.
This isn’t only because of the termination clause included in the last renewal, but also due to the improved salary ‘so that both he and his team felt as valued by the club as they were loved by everyone.’
His release clause is believed to be €6.5m and current salary between €5.7m and €7m gross per year.
These factors wouldn’t make it easy for Tottenham or another club to snatch Pellegrini away from Betis.
