Besides the well-known chase for Inter Milan goalkeeper André Onana, recent stories in the rumour mill said Manchester United would also go after Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow.
It’s been claimed that Erik ten Hag wants another player to compete with Onana, and the Dutchman could arrive as a cheaper signing.
With Bijlow being part of Feyenoord’s squad in pre-season, he today spoke to the Dutch media. In quotes brought by NOS, he talked about the Manchester United links.
The goalkeeper tried not to fuel the rumours about a departure, despite not denying the news either.
“A lot has been written in the media, but so far it has been quiet. I started the preparation with Feyenoord and out of respect for the club I will not comment on matters related to other clubs.”
Manchester United’s interest in Bijlow was first reported at the end of June, with the Dutch media claiming there was ‘concrete interest’ from the Red Devils in making the signing.
The most recent stories about this chase, also from the Dutch press, claimed the Old Trafford side are still to place a bid for the signing, and Feyenoord haven’t even set a price for his sale yet.
So it seems Manchester United would get Onana bought before they move for his potential competitor.
