When Manchester United announced the transfer of Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta for a very hefty fee, there was understandably a lot of excitement.
The Red Devils had been after the young Dane for a very long time, and the money spent showed the confidence they had in him becoming a star, but all hopes of him being ready for the start of the season were dashed when an issue was found during his medical.
It wasn’t enough to derail the transfer, but it was enough to postpone his debut, which understandably frustrated the player a bit, even if he had to accept it, as he told Bold in his home country.
The Manchester United player was asked about the situation, which he said came up ‘on the scanner’ and ‘had to be respected’ when he was told he had to take it easy for a bit.
Asked about how he felt, he said: “Well, there’s not much else to say other than it was a small thing, and I never really felt any pain at any point. It was just something that had to be respected and it has been done, so now it’s just onwards and upwards.”
As for whether he was ever worried during that time, whether it be his transfer to Manchester United failing or his health in general, Højlund was unable to answer.
He added: “I don’t know. A lot of things happened in those days. There was a lot to focus on, so it was a rollercoaster ride in many ways, but I would say I was worried at any point.”
