It seems Arsenal are still to place a bid for Grêmio midfielder Bitello.
In the past couple of weeks, there have been heavy rumours about the Gunners’ interest, as they reportedly sent representatives to watch the player in action twice.
Those scouting missions were expected to be followed by a bid, but as Zona Mista brings some quotes from Grêmio president Alberto Guerra, it’s said Arsenal’s bid wasn’t made yet.
The club chief was interviewed by Rede Sul this week, and asked about Bitello’s future, tried to make the club’s fans calm about the situation.
“There are a lot of people watching Bitello, but there is no proposal, even to reassure our fans, at the moment,” said Guerra.
Arsenal’s interest in Bitello was first reported by the Brazilian media earlier this month. It was claimed they watched him in the match against Botafogo, and then returned to see him again against Bahia.
The Gunners were then expected to analyse his performances and return with a bid. Since Grêmio’s request is only €10m, it was said the Premier League side should meet the requests for the transfer. So far, it seems they haven’t made that move.
