Orkun Kökçü’s impressive displays for Feyenoord this season have resulted in several clubs keeping close tabs on him and Brighton & Hove Albion are included in the list.
Earlier this month, De Telegraaf reported the Seagulls have been hovering to sign the midfielder for several months. It was also explained the Eredivisie side are aware Brighton are keen to secure his services.
Recent reports have linked the 22-year-old with a move to Manchester United. Former Netherlands international Wim Kieft has advised Kökçü to forget a move to Old Trafford and instead favour a move to Brighton in the summer.
Feyenoord managed a 1-0 victory over AS Roma in the Europa League on Thursday. In the build up to this fixture, Veronica Inside, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, talked about the Turkey international’s options for the future.
“I think United is still a bit too ambitious at this stage of his career. Of course, you don’t say no to Manchester United, but I would rather go to a club like Brighton,” Kieft said.
Veronica presenter Wilfred Genee has also explained the fee Arne Slot’s side will demand for the Turkey international.
“I have heard internally that Feyenoord expect an amount of €40m to €45m for Kökcü,” Genee said.
With regards to these figures, Kieft said: “I think it’s a lot of money, but these kinds of amounts are nowadays paid from England. You have to be lucky.”
It remains to be seen whether Roberto De Zerbi’s side will take further steps to sign him in the summer. Kökçü has 12 goals and four assists from 39 games this season.
