Wolverhampton Wanderers’ search for a manager is expected to come to an end as they are reportedly set to appoint Julen Lopetegui as their new boss.

The Premier League side have been searching for a manager after sacking Bruno Lage more than a month ago.

Two days ago, El Partidazo de COPE reported is close to being the new coach of Wolves. This is now highlighted by El Desmarque, who then give their take on how the 56-year-old’s arrival at Molineux could benefit Gonçalo Guedes.

The winger arrived in England from Valencia in the summer and has struggled to impress. His minutes have been restricted under interim manager, Steve Davis.

The 25-year-old, who has just one assist, is ‘experiencing his worst moment’ in the Premier League.

Lopetegui was interested in signing the Portugal international on several occasions during his time at Sevilla. El Desmarque points this out and add the Spaniard [if he ends up at Wolves] ‘could be key’ to help Guedes ‘get out of the rut’ he is currently in at Molineux.

There is belief ‘Guedes will be an important player’ for Wolves, and Lopetegui’s arrival could be vital in helping the attacker regain his old form, considering that the manager wanted him at his former club.

Only time will tell…
