For the past few years, Arsenal fans have got pretty used to seeing the name of Kia Joorabchian.
The agent, who had represented players who joined the Gunners in the past, has now been working on the club’s side to get signings as well.
Now it turns out that the official is said to be ‘key’ in an outgoing move too.
According to outlet Globo Esporte, it’s Joorabchian who handles the talks which should take Willian away from Arsenal this summer.
The winger has been heavily linked to a return to Corinthians for the past couple of days, and when speaking to the Brazilian website, the agent now confirmed that there’s the intention of making this move possible.
“We’re looking forward to making this happen. For me it’s very important to help as much as possible”, Kia Joorabchian told Globo Esporte.
Joorabchian is well known at Corinthians for having a controversial relationship with the club around 15 years ago.
He was responsible for the arrival of the likes of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez, which strengthened them to a league title, but the partnership ended up finishing in far from good terms.
Now according to Globo Esporte, Arsenal are willing to help Willian find a new club. It’s said the player himself asked club director Edu Gaspar to let him leave and his request was attended.
Despite Corinthian’s interest, it’s said no official offers were made yet. The Brazilian side only looked for information and now know that the negotiation is ‘hard, but not impossible’.
For the transfer to happen, Arsenal would need to loan Willian and continue to pay for a big part of his salary.
Globo Esporte says the end of his contract would make things difficult for Corinthians, since they can’t afford even half of what he currently earns in England.
