Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté have been the first-choice centre-backs at Liverpool this season.
Arne Slot has Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah as two more central defenders at his disposal. Inter Milan are reportedly interested in the latter, while Van Dijk has less than a year left on his contract.
Liverpool could look to bring in a new centre-back next year. Recent claims in the English press have mentioned Sevilla’s Loïc Badé as an option.
This has reached the Spanish press, specifically Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, who give their own take on this case.
The 24-year-old was subject to interest from other clubs in the summer window. He wasn’t in favour of leaving the La Liga side and revealed this during a press conference this week.
The outlet relays that and then states several teams are still following him. These teams will be in attendance at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán to keep close tabs on the defender.
Liverpool are the only club mentioned in the report. It’s explained the option to join the Reds is ‘sounding very strongly’, to replace Van Dijk. The website didn’t take into account that the Dutchman can sign an extension at Anfield.
Another report from Vamos Mi Sevilla FC points out the Spanish club are ‘willing to listen to offers’ for every player due to their financial situation.
Badé has a €50m release clause, but the report claims Sevilla would be ready to negotiate his sale for €30m.
