Earlier on Thursday, we covered a story from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato which highlighted Leeds United’s interest in Sasa Lukic.

It was claimed the Whites are ‘closely following’ the player in his games for Serbia at the World Cup, and even though an offer wasn’t made yet, negotiations could begin after the tournament.

Now as Torino Granata talks about Lukic’s situation, they claim that Leeds United would need to battle Manchester United for the signing.

The outlet starts by saying that the player’s situation remains ‘to be defined’, since he’s still to sign a new contract with the Turin side and ‘has made it clear that he is evaluating his future’.

Torino Granata then comes up saying Manchester United and AS Roma are interested in him, and only them brings Calcio Mercato’s claims that Leeds are in the race as well. So that’s a local indication that the Whites will have competition from the Red Devils for this signing.

The World Cup itself could already be a reason for Lukic’s price to rise, and with Manchester United now involved in the rumours, the fight for his transfer gets even more interesting.
