Fiorentina have Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong on their agenda for the winter market.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who report the Serie A side have prioritised signing a new centre-back in January. They have needs in other positions but improving their defence is ‘one of the most pressing’ matters.
La Viola have identified the Chelsea player as a target and are considering signing him.
The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of Chelsea’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2024. He’s played 22 matches so far for the Blues senior team of which eight are from this season.
Acheampong’s preferred position is in the heart of defence but he can also operate as a fullback on either side.
With Tariq Lamptey sidelined with a long-term injury, Fiorentina can utilise Acheampong as a right-back, if they were to sign him.
TMW states Fiorentina are looking at a loan deal with a purchase option. It’s unclear whether the England U21 international or Chelsea are in favour of this operation.
As well as Acheampong, the report claims Fiorentina are in the picture to sign another Chelsea defender, Axel Disasi. La Viola are ‘paying close attention’ to the Blues.
