Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is the latest candidate to be linked with the Barcelona job.
Ronald Koeman is under pressure as his side have managed only two wins so far this season. Various reports have indicated the Dutchman could be shown the exit door if there’s no improvement in results.
ElNacional claim the La Liga side are aware ‘it is impossible’ to bring in an experienced manager if the former Everton manager is sacked. Should this happen, Barca plan to promote someone within the club and appoint an experienced coach next summer.
‘There are countless names on the table’ and this is when Xavi, Andrea Pirlo, Antonio Conte, Robert Martínez, Erik ten Hag and a few others are mentioned.
As per the report, Joan Laporta’s ‘favourite option’ is Klopp. The Barcelona president considers the Reds manager as the ‘best coach to create a winning project’ at the Camp Nou.
It’s said the German would not mind leaving the Merseyside club, even though he has a contract until 2024. In addition to this, Liverpool wouldn’t stop him from leaving due to their good relationship. They understand Klopp has ‘earned the right to leave’.
For the Barcelona chief to appoint his ‘dream’ managerial candidate, it will cost them €36m.
The website states: ‘Although at first there was talk of an annual salary of €8m net, Klopp would be willing to lower the salary to €6m, which in a 3-year contract would turn the operation into about €36m gross.’
Although Klopp is Laporta’s ‘favourite option’ and a ‘dream’ candidate, ElNacional makes it clear any potential ‘operation is very complicated to carry out’.
