Liverpool are ‘one of the main interested parties’ for Athletic Club Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
That’s according to Fichajes.net, who say that Jürgen Klopp has asked the club to sign an ‘unbalancing winger’ in the winter market.
This is where the 20-year-old fits in, and it’s stated Liverpool will send scouts to follow him closely at the World Cup.
The Reds intend to monitor Williams in Qatar so that it can help them shape their opinion and decide on making an offer to secure in January. This will depend on La Roja manager Luis Enrique handing minutes to the player.
Williams’ deal with the La Liga side runs down in 2024. He’s happy at the Basque club, but at the same time, the attacker doesn’t close the door on the possibility of changing clubs.
Fichajes.net state there are other clubs in the picture to sign Williams, but Liverpool ‘take the lead’ in the transfer race. Klopp’s side are ‘waiting for the opportunity’ and will ‘not think twice to make an offer’ after the World Cup, to get ahead of their competitors.
