Liverpool could face a battle with Real Madrid in the chase for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi.
That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of AS, which states Real Madrid have made an initial approach to the centre-back’s agent.
Last summer, the Crystal Palace star reached an agreement with Liverpool only to see his move to Anfield collapse on deadline day.
The 25-year-old’s contract at Crystal Palace lasts until June. Oliver Glasner has already confirmed the defender has decided against signing an extension and that the Eagles won’t let him leave in January.
On Christmas Eve, Mundo Deportivo reported the defender is handling a ‘very high offer’ from the Reds. It was also reported that Barcelona have ended their interest, after contacting his agent.
Recent claims have explained Arne Slot’s side have agreed a deal with Guéhi. AS report Real Madrid have conveyed their concern about these claims during their initial approach with his agent.
The newspaper have found out that Liverpool are still keen, but they have no fresh agreement in place with the England international.
It’s claimed the Reds will have to start fresh negotiations under different conditions. This opens the door for the La Liga giants to snatch him from Liverpool’s clutches.
Real Madrid, for their part, refuse to enter into a bidding war for Guéhi. He hasn’t made a decision yet and has options to pick his next destination.
The Crystal Palace man would prioritise the Spanish club if they were to make advances. According to the report, it would be a dream for him to join Los Blancos.
Guéhi is said to waiting to see if there’ll be more developments from Real Madrid.
