As Liverpool keep up with their chase for Southampton star Romeo Lavia, it’s seems there’s now been a new effort from the Reds to get the transfer done.
The news comes from Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who, on Twitter, claims the Anfield side now try to close on a £45m deal for the player.
The report claims Liverpool are ‘in a hurry’ to get the transfer done, mostly because of the competition from Chelsea and also because they want him in Singapore to join Jürgen Klopp’s squad.
It’s said the Blues tried an ‘ultimate approach’ in recent hours, with their director Joe Shields pressing to take the midfielder to Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool had already been leading this race and don’t want to see the player going somewhere else, and now try to force with an even bigger bid.
Following Southampton’s relegation, Lavia is part of the long list of players who are leaving the club, and perhaps the one who’ll move for most money.
The auction between Liverpool and Chelsea can only be good for the Saints, as the player is valued by Transfermarkt at €32m and will apparently move for much more than that.
